People of J&K upset, BJP left them in lurch: Bhalla

JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla today claimed that priority of BJP regime during last nine years has never been to empower people by strengthening democratic institutions but those at the helm of the affairs want to accomplish their nefarious designs by controlling such institutions through undemocratic means.

This was stated by former Minister while interacting with prominent persons of RS Pura Jammu South constituency on Friday. Discussions were also held various current issues troubling the general public such as the ongoing water and power crisis. Reacting over current situation in J&KUT, Bhalla termed BJP Govt as directionless which failed to bring cheers to the common people especially the youth, students, the farmers and the labour class who suffered a lot due to worst economic slowdown in J&K under their rule. He said there are no effort to boost the rural economy and create job opportunities in the wake of large scale unemployment and retrenchments in the recent years due to wrong economic policies of BJP government

Bhalla launching a scathing attack on the BJP accused the ruling party at the Centre of destroying democratic, ethnic and social fabric of the nation.He said India was the only robustly functioning and flourishing democracy in South Asian region, thanks to the magnanimous role played by the Congress in the 70 years of history of the nation.He said BJP stands exposed for self-centered agenda as all its acts are guided by “brazen biases and short sighted politics”. He said the BJP’s manoeuvres in Jammu and Kashmir have left people in lurch and said “nothing is going to bail them out as the people have made a point to punish them through their votes.” “BJP stands discredited and isolated for its myopic politics. They stand exposed for their duplicity, deception and self-centered agenda, which has taken a heavy toll on the people’s lives,” he said.

Bhalla said far-flung areas of Jammu region have totally been ignored. BJP does not think beyond self-interests . Having diminished their deposit with the people, the BJP is now trying to conquer the region through back doors by gerrymandering constituencies and bringing outside voters. All they want is to capture the power,” he said.Exhorting the people, particularly youth, to register as voters, he said, “this time we will be voting for the future of our younger generation. This time it is about protecting our culture, our unique identity and our individuality.

There is no scope for complacency.On employment avenues, he said far from providing jobs to Jammu youth, the BJP-led central government is snatching jobs.“What they have done so far is open the floodgates for outsiders in the Jammu region. All the jobs, mining contracts are being outsourced. The marginal traders and retail sector businesses of Jammu are also inching towards disaster,” he alleged.“Thousands of youngsters in Jammu are idling away without jobs despite having degrees. Unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir is a manufactured reality as the sole by-product of the BJP’s incapacitated policymaking. Our youth are yearning for a sigh of relief,” he said.

Bhalla said people of J&K are fed up with the “sheer opportunism” of BJP.He said Congress by way of its pro-people policies is the only viable regional alternative for the people of J&K. He said Government has failed to do anything good for the people of J&K except strengthening the instrument of oppression to unleash terror on them. He regretted that the delivery on the promises during their tenure so far had been in opposite proportion to the expression of such high pitched slogans with not a single promise having been cashed in. Opportunistic govt has overtly and covertly worked towards weakening the very idea of Jammu and Kashmir”, Bhalla said.While referring to the controversies raked up by BJP, Bhalla said, “Inhuman atmosphere generated and mistrust created by bringing the people and the regions eyeball to eyeball situation over various sensitive issues. We decry the politics of hate and divide”, he said while cautioning the people against divisive politics.

Bhalla claimed that BJP Govt has only added to the woes of common man. He described the BJP as a spent force and said this party has lost the drive to serve the people because of its lust for power. BJP has ditched Jammu and left in lurch the people, especially those living in remote areas.

The prices are soaring on a daily basis, leaving the people in a lot of misery,” he said.He claimed that this was because of the wrong policies of the BJP at the Centre and in Jammu and Kashmir. He said Congress will foil all these machinations with full might to protect the identity and interests of the people of J&K. JKPCC Working President claimed that all the development that is seen in J&K was done by the previous Congress Party government. He condemned policies of Govt and said it failed to come up to the expectations of people of J&K. He called the working class, farmers and low paid employees besides school going children of the poor class as `victims of BJP Govt’s wrong policies.
